Using a tomcat with a reverse proxy is common solution for serving static contents, doing load-balancing or SSL/TLS termination. The presentation will go through Apache Traffic Server, Apache HTTP Server httpd and NGINX and show how to use them with Tomcat.
There are many protocols usable for reserve proxy, we will look to each of they and in what case to use them:
1 - AJP when to use it and its limitation.
mod_jk and mod_proxy_ajp
2 - HTTP (and HTTPS)
for all the proxies, which one to use and when.
3 - H2C
The HTTP/2 allows clear text for reverse proxies, we will look how to configure it.
4 - Other like web-socket
It is possible to upgrade HTTP/1 to web-socket and some other, we will look how to configure each proxy and what there are their supported protocols.
We will also look to the performances of each construction and make a short demo for each server.
