VMware provides rich set of features for Networking, HA and Load Balancing. Most of these features are either manually configured out-of-band or unused. Some potential problems like VMs couldn’t obtain IP after HA recovery, VM sync failures on out-of-band migration, New host couldn't participate in HA/DRS load balancing, etc, can be resolved with VM restart priority and hosts compatibility in network & storage which has to be improved in CloudStack. VMware deployments with cluster level vSwitch traffic labels doesn’t support multiple physical networks for Guest traffic, which needs higher scale compared to other traffic types. Better management of traffic labels at various levels (zone, cluster) is required. In this presentation & demo, Sateesh will discuss the options for better integration of VMware with CloudStack, to leverage hypervisor capabilities and make CloudStack more reliable.
